How to Use your Inner Circle

Auto Date Friday, November 30th, 2007

Who do you know that knows that you speak?

There is a famous saying “It is not who you know but who knows you!” This is so true. Take a look at who you know and also at others at your place of business, or clients that you have worked with or contacted in the past. Do they know who you are? Are they aware of what you do to promote yourself or your business? This is all part of networking and forming business relationships. You need to make sure they remember you, even if they do not buy from you. Make them a part of your inner circle. Each of these people also has an inner circle - they will tell their friends and so on. I remember a hair shampoo commercial a number of years ago that went: “Tell two friends, who will tell two friends, and so on,

Writing Articles - The Power of Just One Article

Auto Date Wednesday, November 28th, 2007

Back in 1998 I wrote an article on “The Care and Feeding of Parents.” It went into our local paper and then out to other papers for distribution.

I really did not give it much thought until recently when I posted it to EzineArticles.com and then used it in my Parenting Your Teenager newsletter.

A reporter that I have worked with for some time is on my newletter mailing list and he really liked the article. He interviewed me for a piece he was doing on parents and teens, and then pitched it to his editor.

His editor liked it do much they made a feature story on it and ran it on page one of the Living section. It has since been picked up by newspapers all across the country and all over the world.

Here are just a few of the immediate benefits of this one article:

1. I’m getting calls from papers

Auto Date Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

You’ve been asked to speak for an audience. However, the event organizer or meeting planner tells you they can’t pay you. Your heart sinks knowing that speaking for free will cost you in the long run. You think of all the expenses you’ll incur - gas, parking, photocopying materials, babysitter - and speaking for free means you won’t be reimbursed for these incidental costs.

Although a free gig can eat into your bottom line, you don’t need to refuse it altogether. If you’re still building your expertise, free gigs can help you to refine your message and try out new concepts on an eager audience.

The only way you can make money if you’re speaking for free, is to sell something. You just have to. Otherwise, known as back of the room (BOR) sales, here are some tips for ensuring that you rake in the cash even if you’re speaking for free.

  1. Develop

Step Two - Submit Your Article to EzineArticles.com and other article directories

As of this writing, September 12, 2005, I’ve been submitting articles for only 5 months, and the results have been tremendous. It is the fastest and most inexpensive path to increased traffic, prospects, publicity and profits.

Step Three - Your Article is Picked Up and Published on a Website or in an Internet Newsletter

Why Should You Use Worksheets For Proofreading

Auto Date Sunday, November 25th, 2007

Proofreading worksheets are a great tool to help individuals open their eyes to the mistakes that are commonly made. These are used to help teach a person how to spot mistakes in copy. They are similar to those you got as a child when you were learning to write and read. Sometimes, they can be simple, while other times they are progressively more difficult. It is important to use these worksheets as part of your training to become a qualified proof reader.

It may sound strange that you would want to do these worksheets, but in fact, it helps you learn how to spot errors from just glancing at a page. There are errors that are very common, that many people make in spelling. Often times, other mistakes come from typing the wrong key or typing too fast. In proof reading, it is your job to spot these errors and correct

Know your Audience Before you Write Your Book or Web Site

Auto Date Saturday, November 24th, 2007

If you want happy customers to use your service or buy your book, you need to focus on their needs and desires.

Unhappy customers leave when they can’t find what they want–benefits and an easy way to buy. Perhaps your site has barriers you don’t realize. If anything is difficult, customers will leave and give their business to someone else. Know your audience and write headlines that Wow them.

Know your Audience Before you Write your Book or Web Site Copy

Before you list those benefits–you must know your particular audience. Who will buy your book? What are their biggest fears–their worries? What problem do they have that you can solve?

Know their Assumptions about You and Your Product. What is their number one life’s dream? What are their assumptions about your subject or service? What are their excuses for not acting on what they want? Do they think your product is too much

How VALUABLE is Your Speaking Topic

Auto Date Friday, November 23rd, 2007

What information can be used immediately by the audience and what is to follow?

Can you tell the audience in 30 seconds or less what you do and also give them three things that they can use immediately? The chances are that you probably cannot. If you do not have a practiced and enthusiastic response to how valuable your topic is, then you are likely not going to win over the audience. Not only do you need to think it is valuable but the audience also has to buy into it. You will need to do some market research even if it is only asking questions to your intended audience.

You need to know ahead of time that what you are speaking on is of value to them and that they will be able to walk away from you speech and feel that they got value. So what is the best way

Make your Book Stand Out From the Crowd - Know your Audience

Auto Date Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Most authors say, “Everyone will want my book, and when I take it to Oprah, it will sell millions, and I’ll make millions, too.”

Not exactly true. If you are writing a book you need to know your specific audience. This gives your book its unique selling point. Writing for your target audience focuses your writing and gives your book a great advantage because you know and can communicate your unique selling point. (USP). Now, your book will stand out from the crowd. Although everyone won’t buy it, it will sell more copies because your targeted book buyers really want your message.

How do you know who your audience is?

The biggest mistake most authors make is that they don’t write for their one preferred audience. If an audience is “everyone,” the book doesn’t have an angle. Without a focus audience, it has too much competition among other popular authors. The “Dummy” books
